- Graphing Linear Equations Graphing a linear equation means drawing its straight line — plot the y-intercept, then use the slope (rise over run) to step to more points, or plot any two points and connect them.
- Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Parallel lines have the same slope and never meet; perpendicular lines cross at a right angle and have slopes that multiply to −1 (negative reciprocals).
- Points on a Line The points on a line are all the (x, y) pairs that make its equation true; plug a point in, and if both sides match, it lies on the line.
- Slope (Rise Over Run)
- Slope-Intercept Form (y = mx + b)
- Standard Form — Ax + By = C Standard form writes a line as Ax + By = C. Convert it to slope-intercept form (y = mx + b) by isolating y — subtract Ax, then divide every term by B.
- Word Problems – Linear Equations A word problem that translates into a single linear equation — a constant-rate situation you set up and solve for one unknown.
- X-Intercept The x-intercept is where a line crosses the x-axis — where y = 0. Find it by setting y = 0 and solving for x.
- Y-Intercept The y-intercept is where a line crosses the y-axis — the point (0, b). Find it by setting x = 0; in y = mx + b it’s the constant b.
